How I reconcile traditional aesthetics and the demands of modernity in my art
In a world dominated by digital images and marketing, full of omissions or deliberate lies about what is sold to us, it is more essential than ever to reconnect with authenticity and emotion. It is in this quest that I propose an approach that combines traditional drawing techniques with the modernity of digital tools. Starting with hand-drawn illustrations, I create original and personalized works, printed on eco-responsible media. My goal? To recreate lasting links between people and their memories, while offering a unique and authentic decoration.
From traditional lines to digital works: my creative process for illustrations...
The moodboard:
This tool allows me to gather images, colors, textures and keywords that will define the general atmosphere of the work. It's a bit like a travel diary where I record my inspirations and my first ideas. It can be images found on the internet and stored in a folder, or a physical collage of magazine excerpts for example, to which I can add notes, ideas, film or even musical references...

The sketch:
Once the moodboard is finalized, I move on to the sketching phase. I make several sketches to find the ideal composition: the shapes, their harmonious distribution, the colors... The sketch is the key step that gives life to the initial idea. It is more or less detailed depending on the freedom left during the work process. For example: more complete for a specific order, more vague when I will make the elements one by one and assemble them afterwards; I will then focus on each element of the composition itself.

The drawing:
This is the heart of my work. I make the final drawing by hand, using various supports and techniques, such as graphite or felt-tip pen. I particularly like working with simple and affordable materials, such as ballpoint pens or even a classic criterium, to bring a touch of authenticity and spontaneity. We feel more comfortable and free with simple tools that leave room for error. The more sophisticated the material, the more the pressure increases. I personally feel very constrained in my movements when I have to use expensive materials, especially because, as I don't like waste, I don't allow myself the right to make mistakes.

The digitization:
I digitize the finished drawing at high resolution. This step allows me to work more precisely and make adjustments if necessary. I can readjust the contrasts and clean up the image to obtain an optimal result. For complex illustrations and for a high-quality rendering, I can draw each element separately in a large size (which will adapt to large print formats) and make digital collages. This is a process frequently used for making posters, for example.
Digitization opens up a field of infinite possibilities. I can play with colors, add textures, create special effects... I take care to preserve the spirit of the original drawing while adding a touch of modernity.
For example, when assembling elements, I can add the shadows necessary for contrast:

The printing:
For printing, I favor high-quality eco-responsible media, to reconcile modern aesthetics, commitment and emotion. Traditional illustration would lose all its soul affixed to a product of dubious origin that would tarnish its message and authenticity.
Why choose a unique and personalized work?
A strong emotional connection: Each work is unique and carries a story. It is a way to preserve memories and create lasting bonds with the people you love.
An authentic decoration: Original works bring a touch of personality and authenticity to your interior. They reflect your history and your tastes.
An ecological commitment: By choosing a work printed on eco-responsible media, you contribute to preserving the environment.
Support for craftsmanship: By purchasing an original work of art, you support the work of artists and encourage creation.
The choice between an original work of art and a reproduction is a question that often comes up. If reproductions have the advantage of being more accessible (although the prices can vary greatly without necessarily being justified), unique works offer a much richer and more personal experience.
Scams and False Promises: Beware of Imitations!
The online art market is full of tempting offers, but not all are equal. Mass customizations, often made using image-generating software, cannot compete with an original work of art. If you are offered a "realistic" portrait at a bargain price, be wary. Technical details, such as the type of medium used, the tools used by the artist or the time taken to complete it, are all clues that will allow you to distinguish a real work of art from a simple digital reproduction.
Note: Portraits made using image-generating software are digital reproductions and cannot be considered original works of art. It is important to find out about the techniques used by the artist before making a purchase.
Everything has a cost:
Time commitment: Every piece of art requires a considerable investment of time, from conception to final completion. A hyperrealistic portrait, for example, will require many more hours of work than a stylized portrait.
Materials used: Art materials can vary greatly in cost. Oil paints, natural pigments or high-quality papers are much more expensive than more common materials.
Level of expertise: The artist's experience, training and reputation have a direct impact on the price of their works. A recognized and experienced artist will generally ask for a higher price than a beginner artist.
Uniqueness of the work: Each work of art is unique and bears the mark of its creator. A personalized work, made to measure, will have an added value compared to a reproduction.
Some tips:
Ask for a detailed quote: Don't hesitate to ask the artist to provide you with a detailed quote, specifying the different stages of production, the materials used and the delivery time.
Visit the artist's studio in person or virtually: If possible, go to the artist's studio, on their website or Instagram page, to discover their world and discuss your project.
Find out about the prices charged: Find out about the prices charged by other similar artists, but be careful not to compare works that do not have the same complexity!
Prioritize quality over quantity: It is better to invest in a quality work that you will enjoy for a long time rather than opting for a cheap work that will not satisfy you.
The price of a work of art is a reflection of the artist's work, their know-how and the uniqueness of their creation. As a buyer, it is important to take the time to find out, compare the different offers and choose a work that meets your expectations and your budget.
Who are my services for?
My work is aimed at all people who:
Love art and decoration, and want to personalize their interior with unique and original works.
Are attached to family ties, and are looking for a personalized gift to offer to their loved ones.
Are sensitive to ecology, and want to consume responsibly, by supporting ecological initiatives.

In conclusion, my work is an invitation to celebrate the beauty of imperfection, to reconnect with our roots and to embrace the future with optimism. By mixing tradition and modernity, I create works that touch the heart and that will last over time. The best of traditions and all the advantages of modernity, for a balance between two worlds that do not necessarily have to oppose and fight each other, but which can nourish each other for the good of all.
Note: This article is about my illustrations. The portraits are done in a classic way and are not retouched, even if they are also printed afterwards.
